Awards Season - Finding You in Hollywood

The Awards Season for 2025 are underway.


This year promises to be an exciting one for film and television enthusiasts. The 2025 Awards Season brings a slew of dates that will keep fans eagerly awaiting the results of their favourite nominees. The anticipation is already building as we edge closer to some of the most prestigious ceremonies in the industry.

The festivities kicked off with the Golden Globes ceremony on January 5th. Known for its glamorous red carpet and memorable moments, the Golden Globes celebrate achievements in both film and television. Fans and critics alike will be keen to see which actors, directors, and productions take home the coveted awards this year.

Just a day ago, on January 7th, the National Board of Review gala will take place. This event is renowned for recognising excellence in filmmaking and is often seen as a precursor to the Oscars. The NAACP Image Awards nominations will be announced on the same day, highlighting outstanding achievements by people of colour in film, television, music, and literature. The NAACP Image Awards are crucial in celebrating diversity and representation in the entertainment industry.

January 8th promises to be a hectic day with several significant announcements. The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards nominations will be revealed, showcasing the talents of actors in both film and television. The SAG Awards are unique in that they are voted on by members of the acting community, making them a true reflection of peer recognition. Additionally, nominations for the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards will be announced, honouring the outstanding directorial achievements in film and television. The DGA Awards are often seen as a strong indicator of potential Oscar winners in the Best Director category.

Simultaneously, from January 8th to 17th, the Oscars nominations voting will take place. Academy members will cast their votes to determine the nominees for the 97th Academy Awards. The Razzie Awards nominations will be revealed the very next day, January 16th. The Razzies, or Golden Raspberry Awards, offer a humorous counterpoint to the more serious awards ceremonies by recognising the year's worst films and performances. While some may view the Razzies as a light hearted jab at Hollywood, they serve as a reminder that not all cinematic endeavours result in critical acclaim.
