Finding You In Hollywood: Christmas Without You

Finding You In Hollywood: Christmas Without You

A short Christmas story from Jaron’s POV at Christmas

Christmas is a time to be with family and friends. For some that is not possible. And for Jaron that is partly true. It’s not because he doesn’t have anyone or a fragile relationship with his brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law. it’s to do with this love he has for Caitlin.

Just before Christmas Jaron Webber was heartbroken, and at his brother’s engagement, there was no possible way of getting back to Caitlin. Here’s a short tale of him missing Caitlin Elmore during those dark months, particularly Christmas– Christmas Without You.

As the song goes, “It's Christmas time and I am alone...”

The last time they were together was that fateful evening. It should have been a joyous day but with an ocean between them, he managed his emotions as best for Jake and Mandy. Everything between them had felt strained, even Caitlin’s apology couldn't melt his numb heart. For a moment, he thought she would reach out and touch him. He wanted her to do so more than anything in the world but it wasn’t meant to be. Duty called. Instead, he had walked away, leaving her standing there only to miss maybe his cue to talk with her.

But when he saw her talking with that guy, what made things worse was the way she was smiling back at him. And he was all over her. She was smiling at him too. It was a smile that he once knew well. A smile that had been reserved for him alone. That was a stake in his heart.

That night, he took the first plane out of London to Los Angeles. When he made it home, he drank himself into oblivion and drowned the memory of her.

All he got out of there with his heart broken and his head swimming with thoughts of Caitlin. His one place of solace couldn’t remove the ache in his heart, even the sounds of the waves crashing into each other couldn't drown her from his thoughts.

Days turn to weeks and realization sets in that she didn't want him. How could he have been so stupid? Why did he let her go?

He knew he had to find a way back to her.

He has to get her back.  He has to find a way to make her love him again. He has to get her back. Make it stick. Make her see that a life without her isn't a life. Not for him. But not just yet...

First, he has to work through his feelings. He has to make sense of it all. He knew he was going to get somewhere once he did that. Keeping busy was the only way for Jaron until he worked out how to get back to Caitlin. Work was his salvation.

Yet weeks turned to months.

In those testing months, he wrote some of his best music. Snippets of his songs can be found in Finding You In Hollywood. Here’s one that wasn’t in Finding You In HollywoodThis Is Christmas.
